According to the latest statistics, 80% of the population have gum disease. Studies have shown that gum disease can cause havoc elsewhere in the body. Everyone should be checked for periodontal disease, because if it is caught early enough, non-surgical treatment may suffice.

Dr. Timko is on the cutting edge of minimally invasive surgical and non-surgical treatment. 

Dr. Timko was one of the first 150 dentists in the world to be trained in the minimally invasive SMART Bone Grafting Technique® bone grafting technique.  He was the first Board Certified periodontist in Western Pennsylvania to be trained in LANAP® laser gum surgery, as well as the Chao  Pinhole Surgical Technique® for gum recession.  Our latest techniques additionally may include the addition of L-PRF (Leukocyte platelet rich fibrin).  L-PRF is a concentrated form of your body’s own natural growth factors, which is used to maximize your healing potential.

About Our Periodontist

Dr. Timko has been a guest speaker at the American Academy of Periodontology Annual Meetings, in Vancouver B.C., Washington D.C., and most recently in Philadelphia, where he spoke on using the 1064nm Nd:YAG laser for biostimulation in periodontics. Dr. Timko is one of the most experienced periodontists in Pittsburgh and is happy to answer any questions about your gums.  He currently holds a position in the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, as an Assistant Clinical Professor, in the Department of Periodontics.
